Sunday School Program Since our church is dedicated to the spiritual nurture of each individual we provide a variety of Sunday School classes, and nursery care for infants and toddlers at 9:30 each Sunday morning.
Most adult classes use the Uniform Bible Study Series produced by the Mennonite Publishing Network. However, adult classes also have the freedom to choose other study resources according to specific interests or stage of life.

- A College age class meets when students are home from university during holidays and the summer months. The topics studied vary according to the students’ interests.
- The youth class uses a variety of teachers and resources, including the Anabaptist curriculum Gather ‘Round, produced by the Mennonite Publishing Network.
- Children aged two through Junior high meet in 5 age appropriate classes. These class all currently use the Gather ‘Round curriculum
Wednesday Evening Activities During the school year, the church buzzes with a variety of activities on Wednesday evenings. These activities include:
- Adult Choir and Bell Choir (For more information see Music)
- Kids for Christ (KfC) is a club for children kindergarten through grade 4. A smorgasbord of activities provides plenty of fun, friendship and spiritual lessons. This club meets at 7pm mid October until the end of March. (For current information see the church calendar)
- Jr. Youth is a fun and action packed youth group for young people in grades 5-8. These young people are encouraged towards spiritual growth and positive life skills as they interact with each other and a team of dedicated adults. A schedule of events is available to parents at the start of the yearly program. Jr Youth meet at 7 pm form mid October until the end of March. (For current information see the church calendar)
- Senior Youth (MYF) is for grades 9-12 and meets weekly year round for a Wednesday Bible study or designated activity. Don Nelson, the Youth and Young Adult Director, oversees the youth program along with a team of committed adults. MYF meets at 7 pm unless otherwise stated.(For current information see the church calendar or youth page)
- Adult Bible Study convenes on and off throughout the year. Topics of discussion vary. Sometimes men and women meet together, other times separate groups are organized. Adult Bible study meets at 7 pm. (For current information see the church calendar)
Winter Bible School A Winter Bible School series is usually planned for Wednesday evenings during the month of January. WBS includes a congregational meal followed by an inspirational and/or educational session for adults. The program begins at 7 pm.
Vacation Bible School Each Summer we host a Vacation Bible School for children aged 3 -12. Our high energy VBS invites children to explore biblical themes through drama, music, crafts, games and even snacks! Many adult and youth volunteers bring plenty of enthusiasm and creativity to this annual church highlight.
Small Groups Small House Groups provide a more intimate setting for Bible study, prayer and fellowship. Each group determines where they will meet, when they will meet and what they will study. Mentoring Program for Jr. High Youth An optional Mentoring Program is available for young people in grades 6-9. This program links youth with caring adults either in a one on one relationship, or small group structure. The goals of the Mentoring Program are:
- To create a small group experience that will provide spiritual nurture, friendship and accountability for youth.
- To meet 6 times a year for guided spiritual discussions and fun.
- To facilitate meaningful intergenerational relationships within our congregation.
Contact Cheryl Hollinger if you have interest in the mentoring program. College Students Our Adopt-a-Student program links college students with households in the congregation. E-mail messages, notes and care packages from these households provide a congregational connection and support for the students. College students who attend an Anabaptist university may apply for a grant through our Financial Aid Committee. Opportunities for fellowship and Bible Study are offered when the college students are home from college. Bible Quizzing In 2006 Forest Hills revived the old tradition of having a Bible Quizzing team. This opportunity is open to Jr. High and Sr. High youth. Rigorous practices and Sunday competitions throughout Lancaster take place January through March. This is a great way for young people to learn scripture. For more information contact Cheryl Hollinger. The Library Forest Hills has a well stocked and maintained library which provides plenty of reading material for all ages. The variety of resources includes: DVDs, videos, the works of popular fiction and non-fiction Christian authors, study resources, adolescent series, children’s books, etc. A librarian is available to assist people each Sunday, but materials can also be signed out during the week. |

While many classes are somewhat age-related, guests and newcomers are encouraged to try a variety of classes knowing that each generation benefits from the experience and insight of others. All classes have extended an open invitation for anyone to join them for nurture and fellowship!
